Halloween Tricks AND Treats

Halloween, the time of the year when we get dressed up in outrageous costumes and hit the streets looking for "Tricks" and "Treats."  Well, for some of us, every day is Halloween!  But its even more fun when a holiday comes along where we can revel in the spookiness of the Night!  I had a ghoulish time in my designer Gothic lace skeleton gown at Amanda's Hide-A-Way (formally Carolyn's Oasis), a weekly Transgender night-out at the PL Lounge, 49 Louis Street in South Hackensack, New Jersey.  I had a great time with Amanda Lay as she spun the tunes as DJ and hostess Rita Knight, who gave us a spot-on impersonation as legendary diva Mae West.  Amanda's is a place where Male-2-Female Transgender ladies and their friends and admirers can gather in a fun yet safe space.

Miss Sobriety Fundraiser

I had a marvelous time as part of the Miss Sobriety Pageant, an ultra-glam fundraiser for the Big Apple Round Up.   The event took place on October 13th in a theater inside the Lab School at 333 West 17th Street in Chelsea, New York City. Us divas got all glamed up and sold contest votes to raise funds.  Big Apple Round Up is sponsored by Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgender members of Alcholics Anonymous.  They organize an annual conference based on the AA program of recovery and host events for fellowship throughout the year.

A Tiki Shot of Love

Of course I embraced everyone with the island greeting of "aloha" at my special performance at the kitschy, funky Tiki bar, lounge and performance space, Otto's Shrunken Head at 538 East 14th Street in the East Village of New York City on October 5th.  I was in an exciting evening of song and laughter produced by artiste extraordinaire Evan Laurence called "Shot of Love."   Other performers among the bamboo and orchid walls included husband-wife music duo of Skidmore and Morphelia Von Chicken, Dani MadAsSin, Daryl Glenn and the amazing comic Angry Bob
