NY City Council celebrates LGBT Pride

New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito with the six openly LGBT elected member of the New York City Council Daniel Dromm (Queens-Jackson Heights, Elmhurst), Corey Johnson (Manhattan-Times Square, Chelsea, Village), Carlos Menchaca (Brooklyn-Red Hook, Sunset Park), Rosie Mendez (Manhattan-Lower East Side, East Village), Ritchie Torres (Bronx-Tremont, Bellmont) and City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer (Queens-Long Island City, Astoria) along with the other members held an incredible NY City Council LGBT Pride reception honoring LGBT contributions to the Big Apple.  It took place on June 18th at the historic Great Hall at Cooper Union, 7 East 7th Street, New York City.  Special honors were given to openly Gay Pro Basketball player Jason Collins of the Brooklyn Nets, Paul Del Duca, Bianey Garcia, Christine Marioni, Robert Pinter and others.  

Clover Honey makes News in Brooklyn

I'm thrilled to be included, quoted and pictured in Brooklyn Newspapers in articles about the Brooklyn LGBT Pride Festival and Twilight Parade.  There is a wonderful photo of me and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams on the front page of The Brooklyn Paper saying "Borough President Adams takes a moment away from his grand duties to flash a smile with noted drag queen Lady Clover Honey." 

I was also quoted in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle in their report about the event: "It's really amazing to see that not only de Blasio but so many of our local politicians support Brooklyn -- its queer culture and its diversity," said Lady Clover Honey, who marched in the parade. "Not everyone is lucky to have politicians like this that come out and show their love and that's what this parade is about -- love and pride in our community." 

"Having this parade at the end of the week and at night makes it different than most other Pride Parades," Lady Clover Honey said.  "Everything during the week leads up to this and having it at night gives it more of a party atmosphere, sort of a Caribbean feel.  It's so much fun."

Brooklyn LGBTQ Pride Festival and Twilight Parade

I was thrilled and honored to be a performer and the MC/Hostess of the talent Main-Stage of the 18th annual Brooklyn LGBTQ Pride Festival and twilight Parade. This took place on June 14th on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope Brooklyn, New York.  I had the best of times with all the amazing performers including comedian/actress Alison Arngrim - nasty Nellie of the classic TV series "Little House on the Prairie", indie bands Stevie and the Lion, Shirley House, The Paisley Fields, Haus of Sweat, Xelle, Cary Nokey, singer/songwriters Aaron Paul, Josh Zuckerman, Anthony Dixon, Goldie Peacock, Dez Guiterrez and Divas Cyndi Woods and Lady Jasmin. 

In the early evening, the twilight Pride Parade took place and I was thrilled to be driven down the Avenue in a sleek, 1968 Buick Skylark classic convertible!  Leading the Parade was NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, NYC Public Advocate Letitia James, NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, NYC Council Members Carlos Manchaca (the first openly Gay legislator elected in Brooklyn), Rosie Mendez, Danny Dromm and many others.  Cheerleaders, Motorcycle Clubs, marching bands, floats, fire-engines, balloons along with service organizations and local business marched in support of the Community and to celebrate the Gay culture that thrives on the East side of the Brooklyn Bridge.  Special thanks to board members Tyler Alyxander, Mickey Heller, Jerry Allred and many, many others whose hard work and dedication made this day possible. 

Brooklyn Borough Hall LGBTQ Pride

I had a wonderful time at the Brooklyn Borough President, Eric L. Adam's LGBTQ Pride reception at Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street, Downtown Brooklyn, New York, on June 12, 2013.  NYC Council Member Carlos Manchaca, the first (and so far only) openly Gay legislator to be elected in Brooklyn was also there along with Mickey Heller, chair of Brooklyn Pride and many others for the celebration of the diversity and culture of the Borough.  Awards were given to Michael Camacho (Director - AIDS Healthcare Foundation) Kaz Mitchell (Director - Circle of Voices) and S. Leigh Thompson (Co-Founder and Director - The Forum Project).  There was a delicious dinner and dessert buffet and open bar with live entertainment by Brian Bailey, Cameron Mitchell Bell and Matthew Johnson Harris and music and dancing with DJ Mimi.

Jersey Girl in Atlantic City

This original Jersey Girl had a blast starting the Summer month of June by spending three days at the sizzling shore hot-spot resort Atlantic City, New Jersey.  I had a blast at Resorts International, Caesars Palace, the Boardwalk and other seaside spots.  I especially had a ball making an appearance at the Rainbow Room Complex, 55 South Belleview Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey, the only Gay nightclub in town.  The guys at the Rainbow are so much fun, friendly and HOT!  Loved having fun with Kevin, Andrew, John and the rest.  Special thanks to Howie V for taking these fabulous pics!

Drag Art Exhibit Gala

The had the grandest time at the gala premiere art reception of "Why Drag?" presented by "Dragged Around the World" an exhibition of limited edition canvases featuring some of the biggest names in Drag from renowned Photographer Magnus Hastings.  The glamorous event was held at the beautiful Out Hotel, 510 West 42nd Street in the Times Square / Hell's Kitchen area of New York City on May 26, 2014.  I had a wonderful time with Courtney Act of RuPaul's Drag Race, Lola St.Lordes, DJs Anita Buffem and Gina Marie Rittale of Haus of Mimosa, Howie V Cher and many others.

70s DISCOTHEQUE

It was a Disco Inferno and blast from the bast as we celebrated the fabulous 1970s Disco era at the "Oh! You Pretty Things - Discotheque" at the renowned Le Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker Street, Greenwich Village, New York City, on May 25, 2014.  The live entertainment included Michael T., Peppermint, Felix Hess, Frank Bell, Mike Greco and many others.  The hosts included Hunteur Vreeland and Miss Tiffany Leigh.  Celebrity special guest was the legendary Angela Bowie, author of the new best-selling book "Pop Sex."  We all had a blast shaking our Groove Thangs in spandex, polyester and sequins!

Iconic Birthday Bash

I had a blast at the Iconic Birthday Celebration of my dear friends Nightlife/Celebrity Photographer Jason Russo and DJ Susan Levine at the exciting and glamorous hotspot ICON in Astoria Queens, New York City.  The event took place on May 18,2014 where owner/manager Nick Lion along with photographer Rob Ordonez, recording artist Eric Alan, model Tristan Mayfield and so many others celebrated and partied through the night.

Museum of Sex Celebration

I had the most sizzling time at the world premiere of Sex Fifth Avenue, a monthly "Musexual" affair at The Museum of Sex, 233 Fifth Avenue, New York City on May 3, 2014. It was a stimulating evening of music, dancing, performances, erotic art and a celebration of the sensual delights.

  

Lady Bunny "Clowns Syndrome"

Drag legend, nightlife pioneer, and Logo TV’s Drag U star Lady Bunny is back with another delightfully offensive solo show packed with song parodies, original videos and savagely hilarious celebrity insults. Included in the show are a rant against political correctness, circus-chic costume changes and sickening videos including a roast by Joan Rivers.  The show, called Clowns Syndrome, takes place on Tuesdays at La Escuelita Cabaret Theater, 301 West 39th Street, New York City.  I had a bash on opening night, March 29, 2014 with Drag Divas Margoh Channing, Sherry Vine, Sugga Pie Koko, Milan, Celebrity Impersonators Dorothy Bishop, Howie V Cher, promoter Louie Garay and others. 

Fresh Fruit Festival Awards

I was thrilled and honored to be a performer at the annual Fresh Fruit Festival Awards, held on April 30th at the legendary and Dixon Place.  Dixon Place is an Obie Award winning, Off-Broadway New York City theater devoted exclusively to presenting original pieces of theater, dance, performance art and literature that are works in progress. The Fresh Fruit Awards, affectionately known as "The Fruities" honor outstanding art and performance in the Festival and also give kudos to outstanding dedication and devotion to the Arts and the LGBT Communities.  The Fresh Fruit Festival is NYC's renowned, multidisciplinary, international festival of LGBT arts & culture.   I had a blast with Robert Urban, Carol Polcovar, Nick Curto, Frank Calo, Jeff Leeds, Gerard Flores, Alvin Rangel, Suellen Rubin, Heidi Russell, Pheobe Leger and many other fruity friends and family celebrating the independent NYC LGBTQ arts scene.

Easter Parade "All in Clover"

In my Easter Bonnet, with all the frills upon it, I felt like one of most grandest Ladies in the Easter Parade.  We were "all in clover" as we celebrated the holiday of Springtime and Rebirth at New York City's annual Easter Parade, an exciting spectacle to see and be seen in.  I made my appearance with dear friends including chums  from Jerseylicious, the NYC chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and the Imperial Court of NY.  For over a hundred years, Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is closed for vehicle  traffic from 48th Street to 57th Street for people to strut their stuff, showing off their Easter ensembles and headgear.   From the glamorous to the outrageous, thousands of people commemorated the festivity with fierce fashion and tons of fun! We also stopped by the Faberge' Egg Art Exhibit at Rockefeller Center where an amazing show of decorative eggs were displayed.
