New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is naming Erik Bottcher, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn's liaison to the Gay community, to the newly created cabinet post of special assistant for community affairs. I had a wonderful time at the reception to celebrate this momentous occasion. The event took place at the glamorous Woolworth Tower Kitchen in the downtown landmark skyscraper. Politicos are asking if this move shows how serious Cuomo is on his commitment to having legal Gay and Lesbian weddings in the Empire State. "Erik's intellect and experience will be an invaluable asset in the fight to restore New York as the progressive capital of the nation," Cuomo said of Bottcher, who served as his liaison to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in the 2010 race. Celebrating the new position with Erik was NY State Assembly Member Daniel O'Donnell, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn, NY City Council Member Rosie Mendez, Andy Humm and Ann Northrup of Gay USA News, Bravo's Supermodel Ronnie Kroell, recording artist Lovari, activist Brendon Fey, Michael Mallon, Tom Smith, myself and many others.
