US Sailors and Village People Cowboy!

The Fleet is in! What a fantastic way to celebrate Memorial Day and New York City's Fleet Week!  Thousands of United States Navy and Marine enlistees had their ships anchored on the Manhattan's Hudson River docks.  Also, this is the first summer since the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy has been repealed, making it acceptable to be openly Gay in the US Military. So we all got together to go visit our dear friend, Randy Jones, the original Cowboy of the legendary disco group, the Village People, at his one happening Sunday night parties at Splash, where Sailors and Marines had special invitations. With classic Disco music, good friends and brave handsome sailors, we had the best time ever! The crowd went wild when Randy performed the Village People hit "In The Navy." Salute!

Feeling Fruity! The Fresh Fruit Festival Awards!

I had the honor and pleasure of hosting the Fruits of Distinction Awards, aka "The Fruities" at the the Helen Mills Theater in Chelsea NYC. The event honors those who have contributed to the Fresh Fruit Festival and to the LGBT and Arts Communities.  I have met so many wonderful, talented and creative people involved with the Festival, the largest and most diverse LGBT Arts Festival in New York City.
The Fresh Fruit Festival encompasses theater, performance, poetry, comedy, spoken word, music, dance, visual arts and some talents that defy categorization. Artists come from around the city, nation and, indeed, the world. Australia, Canada, Philadelphia, Chicago, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, France, Mauii, Israel, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and all of New York City's boroughs and suburbs have been represented. Fresh Fruit is the most inclusive expression of LGBT arts ever held in the City of New York. Performers of all racial and many ethnic backgrounds, sexualities, gender orientation fill out stages.

"Shake Your Grove Thang" Studio 54 Re-lived

I had the most amazing evening Disco-ing the night away at Dance 208: Studio 54, where the world's most infamous nightclub was recreated.  Lights and artwork was recreated and of course, era music of the time was spun by DJ Ted Snowdon. The crowd especially loved the Donna Summer tunes. Renowned Drag Diva Rollerina, who roller-skated around the Studio 54 Dance floor and the streets of Greenwich Village in the 70s, also stop by to make an extra-special appearance!! The evening took place at The LGBT Community Center of New York City on May 19, 2012.

Get Out! Magazine Awards NYC Nightlife

I had an amazing time as an Award Presenter at the annual Get Out! Magazine Awards that honor achievements in New York City LGBT Nightlife!  With my dear friend recording artist/actor Lovari, I presented the award for the Club that has the most entertaining Drag shows to Barracuda Lounge in Chelsea.  The event was heavily attended by drag divas who dressed spectacularly along with go go boys, bartenders, dancers, recording artists, managers, promoters and owners of the queer nightclub establishments in the Big Apple.  Everyone who's anyone in the nightlife scene was gathered under one roof, the legendary Splash in Chelsea on May 5th.

I just loved spending the evening with so many of my friends and colleagues like Michael Musto (Village Voice), reality TV star RoBear (NY Ink), recording artists Lovari, Aiden Leslie, Oh-My Josh, Gio Louis, Adam Barta, drag divas Sherry Vine, Peppermint, Luscious Lola, Honey Davenport, Marty Gould Cummings, Victoria Chase, Ron B, Jesse Volt, Bianca DelRio promoters Louie Garay, Romero Tragedy, Yusif Extravaganza, Frankie C, photographers/artists Fernando Knust, Jeff Eason, Francis Legge, Andrew Werner, Rob Ordonez, Tracy VonBecker, go go guys Miki Alvarez, Randy Hernandez, Mario and many others!
And it was great seeing my name and pic made it in so many magazines and nightlife blogs including Village Voice, Edge Magazine and on page 30 of the current issue of Get Out! magazine.
