I am thrilled an honored to receive a coveted Fruitie Award. It's actually a Fresh Fruit Festival Award honoring the best of the annual Fresh Fruit Festival in New York City. Fresh Fruit Fest is in its seventh year and is a celebration of Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Transgender contributions to the arts and culture. I was given the award to curating and producing a fantastic visual Art Gallery show featuring images of Drag Performers and Transgender People and those who express Gender in non-traditional ways. It was held at the prestigious Leslie Lohman Art Gallery in SoHo, NYC's renowned art district. The opening night premiere party was the largest that the gallery ever had with lots of celebrities attending and was written up in Art News and The Village Voice. Others honored with a Fruite were Out New York City Council Member Rosie Mendez and Charles Leslie and Fritz Lohman of the Leslie Lohman Gay Art Gallery and Foundation.
